How to determine your Tenure / Permanent Status Timeline

 


 

  • UF’s academic year begins on August 16.
  • For 12-month faculty:
    • if the hire date is between January 1 and November 7, inclusive, the first academic year begins August 16 of that calendar year.
    • if the hire date is between November 8 and December 31, inclusive, the first academic year begins August 16 of the following calendar year
  • For 9-month faculty, the hire date is August 16, which is the start of the first academic year.
  • The tenure/permanent status Mid-Point Tenure/PS Progress Assessment packet is submitted to IFAS Human Resources in the summer of the third academic year or the summer of the third or fourth academic year with an extension.
  • The tenure/permanent status packet is submitted to IFAS Human Resources no later than the fall of the seventh academic year or eighth academic year with an extension.
  • If granted, tenure/permanent status usually is effective the following July 1 for 12-month faculty and August 16 for 9-month faculty.
  • Chart includes the March 2020 COVID-19 Provost extension.  The extension applies to faculty hired on or before May 15, 2020.
