Reminders

 

  • J-1 visas:  If hiring or transferring a candidate using a J-1 visa into a TEAMS or Faculty position, please contact Katie Davison for review prior to obtaining a DS-2019 from UF International Center.
  • EAD cards:   Not all applications for a new Employment Authorization (EAD) card are eligible for an automatic 180-day extension.  Look at the category on their expiring card.  Qualifying categories are:  A03, A05, A07, A08, A10, C08, C09, C10, C16, C20, C22, C24, C31 and A12 or C19 (see USCIS website)
    • If employee is not in a qualifying category and their current card expires:
      • They cannot work or volunteer in any capacity effective the day after their current card expires.
      • They must be placed into a “No Pay Status” effective the day after their expiration and until the day they present their new card to the department.
      • Their employment record must be terminated if “No Pay Status” will last longer than two pay periods, then rehired once new card is presented to department.
      • Employee must contact UFHR-Benefits to discuss options to pay benefit premiums while paychecks are not received.

Offer Date with $1500 rush fee:            March 1, 2020
Offer Date with $2000 rush fee:            February 1, 2020
Not possible before:                               January 15, 2020

Before a case can be submitted to Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen & Loewy, LLP (“Fragomen”) law firm the following must be submitted to Katie Davison:
From Hiring Department:

  • Employer Questionnaire
  • Letter of Offer (LOO)
  • Letter of Addendum (LOA)
  • Templates provided by IFAS-HR:
    • Controlled Technology/Technical Data License Compliance Attestation (CTTD)
    • Actual Wage Report (AWR)
    • Actual Wage Report Memorandum (AWRM)
    • Course Sampling – if position has a teaching effort

Foreign National must provide the following to a Dropbox file provided by IFAS-HR before case is submitted to Fragomen (copies only):

  • Candidate Questionnaire
  • Resume/CV
  • Degree and Transcripts
  • Passport pages
  • Latest I-94
  • Latest Travel History
  • All I-20s, DS-2019s, and Employment Authorization (EAD) card(s), as applicable
  • I-612 waiver or proof of home residency, if applicable
